CGOC RIM Working Group Meeting:
Conducting Information Inventories across Business Units and Departments
June 16th, 10:00 a.m. Pacific
Webinar

The CGOC RIM working group meeting featured a discussion on doing information inventories across business units and departments. The meeting covered:

  • Why an annual inventory by consultants is antiquated and out of pace today

  • How the inventory enables rapid discovery and IT to manage information by its value

  • How records coordinators and departmental governance delegates are the true “cartographers” of the discovery data map because of their business context

Harry Pugh, former EVP of information policy at Citigroup and group co-chair, shared 5 lessons learned. Lorrie Luellig, of counsel at Ryley Carlock & Applewhite and group co-chair,  shared her perspective on how knowing what the business has reduces discovery and compliance risk.

This June 16th RIM Working Group meeting was appropriate for RIM staff and legal and IT staff working on data source map initiatives.

CGOC Web Meeting:
Abbott's Approach to Reducing Legal Risk and Cost in Data Collection
May 20th, 10:00 a.m. Pacific
Webinar

Do you have a highly iterative, largely manual collections coordination process between Legal and IT? Has data been overlooked or mishandled in collections? Find out how to reduce risk and streamline the process in this replay of the CGOC Web Meeting.

Kim Borzick, Legal eDiscovery IT Manager at Abbott shares her processes and experience in rigorous, efficient data collections. In the one-hour web meeting, Kim covers:

  1. The importance of a single source of truth from holds through data collection
  2. Enabling key stakeholders in Legal and IT with facts and automation so "documenting" doesn't compete "doing" the collection work
  3. Indexing collections by data source, custodian and matter automatically to reduce risk, effort and error
  4. Improving collection instructions and cross-team communications to reduce interpretation and cycle time
  5. Avoiding blind delegation while ensuring the right person does the right job at the right time
